Since its opening in 1977, Sakakibara Heart Institute has built up the trust and achievements of patients, their families, and local residents as a specialized hospital in the field of cardiovascular medicine. Currently, the hospital performs more than 1,500 cardiovascular surgeries and 3,500 catheterizations per year, and our cardiovascular care is highly regarded not only in Japan but also internationally due to our technical capabilities supported by these achievements and our teamwork across clinical departments and professions.
The Sakakibara Heart Institute Clinic is the outpatient department of Sakakibara Heart Institute located in convenient Shinjuku, and is characterized by its highly specialized outpatient services in cardiovascular surgery, cardiovascular pediatrics, arrhythmia, and catheterization, etc. We also provide online second opinion services for overseas residents who are unable to come to Japan.
The Health Checkup Center, a branch of Sakakibara Heart Institute Clinic, provides reassuring cardiovascular checkups with full facilities and professional staff for early detection and prevention of heart disease.

＜The World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2022＞ is a joint survey conducted by Newsweek and Statista to select and honor the best hospitals in 10 specialties (cardiology, etc.) in more than 20 countries around the world. More than 40,000 healthcare professionals will be surveyed online to determine the winner. Data would be collected from June to August 2021.

Every year, we have received good overall ratings for both outpatient and inpatient services in a nationwide survey of patient satisfaction conducted by the Japan Health Care Evaluation Organization (JHERA). Based on the survey results, we are striving to improve the quality of medical care and patient satisfaction.

Our hospital is certified by Medical Excellence JAPAN (MEJ) as a “Japan International Hospitals (JIH)”.
The “Japan International Hospitals (JIH)” are hospitals that meet the prescribed standards and are willing to receive travelers, based on the evaluation of the hospital’s acceptance system and efforts, as well as the medical care provided mainly by the department that accepts travelers and its achievements. Hospitals that meet the prescribed standards are recommended to become Japan International Hospitals (JIH).
Our hospital was recommended for JIH in 2016 and will be renewed for the second time in December 2022.
